The kit consists of a hydraulic orbital motor that bolts on the inside of the corn head's end panel using supplied mounting brackets. You drill four holes in the end panel and re-route the chain from the corn head's mechanical slip clutch to the motor. This helps solve a problem that has been getting worse in recent years. The new corn hybrids hold the ears tighter to the stalk, which causes the corn head auger to throw too many ears before they reach the feederhouse. Slowing the auger down helps, but there's a limit to how slow you can go, even using an auger slow-down kit. The hydraulic motor can be operated at a infinite speed from 0 to 150 rpms, allowing you to pick at the exact speed you want. If you want to sell your corn head, but keep the hydraulic motor, you can easily convert back to the mechanical drive.
